ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

DR. CAMILLE WARDROP ALLEYNE

Founder, CEO & President

Dr. Camille Wardrop Alleyne is the Founder and CEO of Arusha Space, an early-stage space technology venture focused on developing trusted, AI-driven autonomy solutions for next-generation space missions. As a founder, she is building Arusha Space from the ground up, shaping its technical vision, strategic partnerships, and long-term growth strategy at the intersection of artificial intelligence, spacecraft autonomy, geospatial mapping, and national security. Her leadership blends deep technical expertise with rare experience translating breakthrough innovation into operational, mission-critical systems.

Dr. Alleyne brings nearly three decades of senior leadership experience from NASA and the Department of Defense, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the modern space economy driving innovation in human spaceflight, space systems engineering, microgravity research and national security programs. At NASA’s Johnson Space Center, she was one of the principal architects of space commercialization, helping enable multi-billion-dollar space economies in low Earth orbit and laying the foundation for sustained commercial activity on the Moon. She served in senior leadership roles including Deputy Program Manager for the Commercial Low Earth Orbit Development Program, Deputy Program Manager for the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, and Assistant Deputy Associate Administrator for Programs in NASA’s Science Mission Directorate.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Alleyne served at the Missile Defense Agency, where she led the complex integration of naval missile defense systems with ground-based intercept architectures—work requiring rigorous systems engineering, operational leadership, and execution under national security imperatives.

Globally, Dr. Alleyne is recognized as a thought leader in applying space science, technology, and data to economic growth and sustainable development, particularly in emerging and developing nations. She is also a powerful advocate for expanding access to STEM education and leadership pathways for women and girls. In 2007, she founded The Brightest Stars Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and inspiring the next generation of global science and technology leaders. Through this work, she has impacted tens of thousands of young people across North America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Dr. Alleyne holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Howard University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida A&M University, a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston. A licensed private pilot and former finalist in NASA’s Astronaut Selection Program, she serves on multiple public and private sector boards and has received numerous national and international honors, including multiple NASA achievement medals. She also serves as a U.S. science and space public diplomat through the State Department Speaker’s Program and has been recognized by the L’Oréal Group as one of 45 women shaping the future of the Caribbean.
